Independent Medical Examinations (IME) provide an objective medical opinion to clarify an outstanding issue regarding a patient’s medical condition or diagnosis. CADUCEUS has Board-Certified Occupational Medicine Physicians who can evaluate, then render these impartial opinions. IMEs may be used to clarify a diagnosis, to develop a treatment plan, or to provide a “referee” opinion to a litigated claim. CADUCEUS specialists apply our decades of experience to ensure high-quality, valuable medical opinions to address the primary issue and any secondary concerns.
EMPLOYEES
Employees may benefit from an IME if their medical improvement has stalled or if they are concerned that their diagnosis is not correct. An injured worker may request an IME from their workers' compensation Adjuster or their employer. The goal of the IME is to help the injured employee return to their full health. Our goal, at CADUCEUS, is to fulfill our commitment to helping every injured employee regain their pre-injury level of function and lack of pain. To that end, CADUCEUS will explore every potential treatment option to deliver to every injured employee their full opportunity for a normal life. We understand that a workplace accident is unexpected, and we will work with you to maximize your recovery and health.
EMPLOYErs
The benefit of having an employer or carrier request an IME is to have a third-party medical professional evaluate and analyze the nature and cause of your workplace injury or occupational disease. An IME will include a medical history review, an explanation of how the injury occurred and treatment, and may require a physical examination. These special opinions provide diagnostic clarity and may help to resolve any outstanding issues that hinder a claim from closure. Depending on the severity of an injured employee’s case, an IME can help determine the nature of an injury, evaluate work restrictions, and provide next steps for an established workers' compensation case through a neutral medical perspective.

A comprehensive physical exam is commonly used to assess the health and fitness of employees and identify potential health risks for manual labor jobs. Employee physical exams ensure that a workforce is ready and able to meet the essential physical demands of a given job. It’s an important step not only for risk assessment, but to ensure the health and safety of employees, especially in demanding or labor-intensive jobs.
EMPLOYEES
As an investment in you and your safety in the workplace, your employer may send you for a physical examination. An examination guarantees that you are being medically evaluated to ensure you are fit for a work position. These services, which can be performed throughout the lifecycle of your career, are designed to assess and improve your health, ensuring that you will be productive in your role.
EMPLOYErs
Physical examinations provide an opportunity to discover a health condition that may impede an employee’s ability to be safe and productive at work. This investment may bring awareness to suitable work accommodations as necessary or emergency care that may come up throughout the employee’s career lifecycle. CADUCEUS will partner with you to ensure your physical needs are met and compliant with your industry requirements.

Benefits of physicals, which are always confidential, include an appropriate matching of candidate and job, baseline health status, and compliance with appropriate statutory requirements. We offer a wide range of DOT/Non-DOT Exams, Pre-Employment, Post-Offer, Fit for Duty, Return to Work, Haz-Mat and Respirator/OSHA Clearance Exams to include the following services:

Drug testing in the workplace is an effective risk management tool to promote workplace safety. In addition to promoting a safer and more productive workplace, it can decrease employee turnover, absenteeism, and reduce workers’ compensation injuries.
EMPLOYEES
Drug testing is used as a medical mechanism to determine if drug use or misuse is occurring in the workplace. If you're currently taking any medications, let us know to ensure accurate testing results at the time of testing. An employer will often use this form of testing to guarantee a safe and hazard-free work environment for you and your colleagues. Periodic drug testing can mitigate avoidable workplace injuries.
EMPLOYErs
Testing is a powerful tool to ensure a safe and productive workforce. There are several reasons for testing, including: Random, pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return to duty, follow-up, or a different determined reason. In addition to a safer and more productive workplace, it can decrease employee turnover, absenteeism, reduce workers' comp injuries, and may provide a discount on workers' compensation insurance premiums.
