While classrooms sit quiet during the summer months, transportation departments across Metro Atlanta are hard at work preparing for the new school year.
Long before the first students climb aboard a school bus, thousands of drivers must complete annual medical examinations required by the Georgia Department of Transportation. These evaluations help ensure drivers remain medically qualified to safely transport students and keep school operations moving without interruption.
Each year between June and July, CADUCEUS partners with school districts and transportation departments throughout the region to deliver these required examinations, supporting communities before the first bell rings.
This summer, CADUCEUS is providing annual bus driver physicals for multiple school systems throughout Metro Atlanta. Together, these programs represent hundreds of drivers who rely on an efficient, coordinated process to maintain compliance and prepare for another successful school year.
Bringing Healthcare Directly to Transportation Teams
For many districts, onsite occupational health services eliminate the need for drivers to travel individually for appointments. By bringing care directly to the workforce, transportation departments can complete annual examinations more efficiently, minimize scheduling disruptions, and keep preparations for the new school year on track.
Teamwork Behind the Scenes
Programs of this scale depend on far more than medical expertise.
From patient intake and testing to documentation and final evaluations, every member of the CADUCEUS team plays an important role. The pace is fast, the schedules are full, and every completed physical represents another driver ready to safely transport students when the school year begins.
This collaborative approach reflects the commitment CADUCEUS brings to every onsite program, combining clinical excellence with operational efficiency to meet the unique needs of transportation employers.
Supporting School Districts Beyond Onsite Services
Not every transportation department requires a fully onsite operation.
For school systems and transportation partners located near a CADUCEUS clinic, drivers can also complete their annual physicals within our clinic network, providing organizations with the flexibility to choose the approach that best fits their workforce.
By combining onsite services with the support of our clinic locations, CADUCEUS is able to serve multiple communities simultaneously throughout the busy summer season.
More Than Compliance
Annual bus driver physicals are often viewed as a regulatory requirement, but their impact reaches much further.
Research has consistently shown that professional drivers experience higher rates of cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and other health conditions than many other occupational groups. Identifying concerns early helps ensure drivers receive appropriate medical guidance while supporting the safety of the communities they serve.
For school districts, maintaining a medically qualified driving workforce is also an operational necessity. A driver unable to obtain medical clearance can affect route planning, staffing, and ultimately student transportation.
Helping organizations stay ahead of these challenges has been part of the CADUCEUS mission for more than two decades.
Serving the Communities That Depend on Safe Transportation
Every summer, hundreds of drivers place their trust in CADUCEUS as they prepare for another school year.
Behind every completed physical is a coordinated effort involving providers, medical assistants, clinic staff, and onsite teams working together toward a common goal: helping school districts begin the academic year with confidence.
As communities across Metro Atlanta prepare to welcome students back into classrooms, CADUCEUS is proud to support the transportation professionals who help make that first day possible, one driver, one examination, and one community at a time.
